MOSCOW (BNS): A mini-satellite 'Kedr' will be launched by Russian cosmonauts during a spacewalk on August 3, Russian media reports.

According to RIA Novosti, the satellite is a part of the Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) project, and is designed to transmit greeting messages in 15 languages and relay images of Earth and telemetry data to amateur radio operators as it orbits the Earth.

The satellite is also dedicated to Yuri Gagarin to honour the 50th anniversary of man’s first flight on Moon.

Russian cargo spacecraft had delivered the Kedr satellite to Progress M-09M on January 30, it said.
