MUMBAI (PTI): Mumbai-based Sure Safety Solutions (SSS) on Wednesday announced setting up of a manufacturing unit of aerial target products for defence purposes at Gopalpur Industrial Park of Tata Steel Special Economic Zone (TSSEZ) in Odisha.

Groundbreaking ceremony for the first assembly line shed was held on Wednesday inside the Gopalpur Industrial Park being developed by TSSEZ Ltd, a company statement said here.

The aerial target manufacturing facility would be set up by Sure Safety Solutions in collaboration with Meggitt Defence of the United Kingdom.

SSS is expected to invest Rs 50-60 crore in the assembly plant which would be built over 5 acres under 'Make in India' scheme.

The project would begin with an assembly line for aerial targets, followed by servicing Meggitt's more than USD 50 million order which it procured from Indian Ministry of Defence for aerial targets.

The Industrial Park at Gopalpur in Ganjam district would not only facilitate industrial development in the region but also contribute to the holistic development of the area.

"We look forward to many more such investments and opportunities in this industrial park in coming days. We are in discussions with investors in China and other South-East Asian countries too, who have shown interest to partner with us in this growth," TSSEZ MD Arun Misra said.

"We are committed to establishing this region as the next industrial hotspot of Odisha and this occasion marks the first step in this regard," Misra said.

The TSSEZ has been recently set up over 1,235 acres of land.

"We are glad to associate ourselves with Tata Steel Industrial Park at Gopalpur and will contribute our bit to industrial development of the area. We hope to start production here by mid of 2016," Ravi Agarwal, President and CEO, Sure Safety Solutions, said.
