‘India needs enhanced technical expertise to build defence JV’s’


BrahMos celebrated 10 glorious years of first supersonic launch on Sunday.

NEW DELHI (BNS): To present India as a global power our technological expertise need to be shaped up by combining Public-Private partnership and JV’s, experts said while addressing the seminar on Public-Private Partnership and JVs, at BrahMos Headquarters on Sunday.

“Indian need to combine the multiple technologies (foreign technologies) with its indigenous expertise, for building a successful Joint Venture,” YS Rajan, Dr. Vikram Sarabhai Distinguished Professor, ISRO, HQ, said in the conference.

Shri Rajan also appreciated the successful Joint Venture and said BrahMos is a shining example of defence cooperation.

Dr. Vinod Misra, Former Secretary of Defence Ministry suggested to form a three way JV by collaborating foreign entities, private industries and defence PSU’s together, to derive full benefits of the spectrum.

The seminar also focused on the restricted percentage of FDI in defence sector and stressed for its revision to get the best technology and investments into the defence sector.

“If we are to achieve results never before accomplished, we must expect to employ methods never before attempted but with utmost honesty,” Dr A S Pillai, CEO, MD, BrahMos, said while concluding the conference and, “The public and private companies need to create faith to develop Joint Ventures,” he added.
