PORTSMOUTH, UK (BNS): BAE Systems has been awarded a £22.5m Training Systems support contract by the Ministry of Defence that will provide a cost effective solution for the Royal Navy’s overall Submarine and Mine Warfare Command Team training.

Under the seven year contract BAE Systems engineers will work alongside the Royal Navy (RN) training team at the Clyde, Devonport and HMS Collingwood naval bases to ensure that the Submarine and Mine Warfare Training Systems are ready and available to meet a demanding training schedule.

As well as providing core service levels of technical support and corrective and preventative maintenance, the BAE Systems team is able to progressively incorporate additional training elements to the system to meet emerging warfare training requirements.

As command systems evolve across the RN Submarine and Mine warfare fleet over the period of the contract, so the training equipment can be progressively developed to meet new warfare training requirements, the company said.
