NEW DELHI (BNS): A major U.S. aircraft manufacturer, Boeing Co, Sunday said that it was eyeing an over 30 per cent share in the Indian defence market in the next 10 years.

"Boeing currently sees a 10-year business potential of USD 31 billion for our company, which includes potential sales of fighter aircraft, maritime patrol aircraft, helicopters and strategic lift aircraft," Boeing Integrated Defense System India head Vivek Lall told PTI here.

The Indian Navy has procured eight P-8I long-range maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare aircraft from the Boeing Corp for USD 2.1 billion early this year.

Currently, Boeing is bidding to offer India its F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet aircrafts, CH-47F Chinook Helicopter, Apache Attack Helicopter (AH-64) and C-17 Globemaster III tactical transport aircraft.

According to Vivek Lall, Boeing has signed contracts with companies like HAL, BEL and Electronic Corporation of India Limited for the production of indigenous equipment for the anti-submarine aircraft. Boeing is presently investing USD 630 million in India.

Lal also added that Boeing is interested in having long-term relationships with the Indian govt. and the industry.
