BEIJING (BNS): China's aircraft carrier Varyag has departed from Dalian Port to embark on its 10th sea trial, a media report said.

The aircraft carrier left its shipyard at Dalian Port in northeast Liaoning Province on Tuesday.

The sea voyage is likely to face some challenge due to Typhoon Bolaven while the Liaoning Maritime Safety Administration has imposed a sea curfew to prevent other vessels from entering the area where the aircraft carrier will undergo trials, a Xinhua report said.

The Varyag, which is expected to enter into service in 2012, began its first sea trials in August last year.

The carrier is built upon the unfinished former Soviet aircraft carrier Varyag and is believed to be the first of the three being planned to acquire by the Chinese navy.
