GUATEMALA CITY (AP): The Guatemalan government on Wednesday said that the head of its joint chiefs of staff has died in a helicopter crash near the border with Mexico.
Interior Secretary Maurio Lopez says Gen. Rudy Ortiz died on Wednesday along with four other military officials after their helicopter fell in a mountainous area of the province of Huehuetenango.
Lopez says Gen. Braulio Mayen and three other officials were also killed.
