India to make strong representation at IMDEX Asia 2015

SINGAPORE (PTI): India would make strong representation at Asia Pacific's premier international maritime defence show in Singapore where 20 warships from 12 countries will be displayed.

The Indian Navy will be represented by Rear Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, with ships of the Eastern Fleet, INS Satpura and INS Kamorta at the International Maritime and Defence Exhibition (IMDEX Asia 2015) which opens here on Tuesday.

Indian Coast Guard is to be represented by Additional Director General SPS Basra, Coast Guard Commander (Western Sea).

Indian defence companies have been regularly participating in the bi-annual exhibition but this is the first time that they have come together to set up a pavilion alongside France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Singapore, the UK and the US.

Indian shipyards setting up their stalls are Mazagon Dock Limited, Goa Shipyard Limited and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd.

"This reinforces the importance of IMDEX Asia as a vital platform that countries can leverage to present their latest technological advancements," said exhibition and conference organisers, Experia Events Pte Ltd.

"IMDEX Asia 2015 promises to chart new frontiers with continued strong international participation from navies and maritime agencies raising the eminence and quality of dialogues at the key strategic conferences," said Esperia managing director Leck Chet Lam at a preview press conference today.

Close to 70 heads of defence and maritime agencies from 40 countries and more than 180 international companies from 28 countries are participating in the two-day exhibition and conference.
