Indian Army Chief reviews troop preparation along border

NEW DELHI (PTI): Indian Army Chief Dalbir Singh Suhag on Monday reviewed the preparedness of troops deployed along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh, which has been witnessing frequent incursions by the Chinese Army.

The Army Chief visited forward posts of Eastern Ladakh and reviewed the defence preparedness in that sector, Army officials said.

The Eastern Ladakh area has witnessed several incursions in the last few years including the Depsang valley incident where Chinese troops entered 19 kms inside Indian territory in the Daulat Beg Oldie area and left after three weeks of intense negotiations,

Suhag had on Sunday visited Siachen Glacier, the highest battlefield in the world, as part of his three-day visit to Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir.

This is first visit of Suhag to Jammu and Kashmir after taking over as Army chief.
