Indian defence minister to inaugurate Aero India 2009

BANGALORE (BNS): The five-day Aero India 2009, which begins here, will be inaugurated by Defence Minister AK Antony on February 11 at the Air Force Station Yelahanka.

The biggest ever air show in this part of the region will be attended by the defence ministers of eight countries, including France, Peru, Bolivia, Surinam, Mongolia, Oman and Maldives. Besides, high-level delegations from 40 countries, including China are coming to witness the air show.

To showcase the Indian talent in Aero Space sector, students from IIT Mumbai, IIT Kanpur and IIT Madras and other various engineering colleges will display their aero projects at the air show. For the first time, even information will be shared that will benefit school students from classes 3 to 12. About 200 students from Municipal to Corporate schools in Bangalore will visit the air show daily to get first hand information on the aero space sector.

Organised by the Ministry of Defence, the Aero India 2009 is managed by the Confederation of Indian Industry.
