An IRNA report quoting Sayyari said Iran has attained the technology for manufacturing submarine in the past 20 years.

The Fateh (Conqueror) submarine is the country's newest semi-heavy submarine and weighs nearly 500 tonnes.

The submarine can operate more than 200 metres below the sea surface for nearly five weeks, according to reports.

In recent years Iran has attained self-sufficiency in producing important military hardware and systems launching different classes of indigenous advanced submarines.

The country has launched different classes of submarines including Fateh, Ghadir, Qaem, Nahang, Tareq and Sina.

Iran is currently mass-producing Ghadir class submarines, reports said.
