Italian radar for new Indian aircraft carrier

ROMA (BNS): Italian company, SELEX Sistemi Integrati, has signed a contract to deliver air surveillance naval radar RAN 40L and IFF radar for a new Indian aircraft carrier built by the Cochin Shipyard.

The RAN-40L is a 3D long range early warning radar with fully solid state active phased array antenna able to assure the detection of aircrafts up to 400 kilometers.

The radar design has been proven on the land based 3D RAT-31DL, the long range surveillance radar provided worldwide to the NATO Countries.

SELEX Sistemi Integrati, a Finmeccanica Company, has supplied three command and control systems for the Godivari and Bramaputra class frigates, besides the relevant logistic support. The company is also providing the Indian Navy and Air Force with the PAR2080C system, a Precision Approach Radar.
