Yemen Airways takes delivery of first A320 plane

SANAA (BNS): Yemen’s national carrier Yemenia (Yemen Airways) has taken delivery of fist Airbus A320 passenger plane, Airbus has announced.

The airliner had placed an order with Airbus to buy 10 A320 jets worth $700 million in 2009 as part of its plan to replace its entire fleet of single aisles with the A320 Family.

The A320 is equipped with IAE engines and configured in two classes (12 business and 138 economy seats). The commercial jet will be deployed on regional and international services to Gulf States, Middle East, Africa, India and Southern European destinations.

The rest of the A320s are scheduled to be delivered to Yemenia over the next three years.
